Hanson Cribb & Confederates like to design buildings that people enjoy.
Architecture, like food cars and clothes, is increasingly judged by the way its looks (or rather what it looks like), and not by what it does, how it operates, what it represents or how it was conceived.
Our design strategy is guided by the physical and historical context, the client’s brief, the appropriate use of technology, adjustability and the manipulation of natural and artificial light.
We recognise that good architecture is a product of the successful partnership between an enlightened client and architect.
Confederate Architects are a small design lead practice based in West London established in 2002.
The practice has five staff and its workload includes a number of residential and commercial projects ranging in value from £100,000 to £1.8m.
We are currently designing the fit-out of the top floor of the Swiss Re Building in the City, 12 new houses in the park of a listed house in Putney and the extension of two preparatory schools in central London.
The practice is also the working on several listed buildings in tight urban sites and, by contrast on a large Scottish stately home in East Lothian. |
